I find the hardest part of travelling for me is coming home to realise that nothing has changed. Everything is the same but you. Life back home is like riding a bike, you never forget how to do it. You might not have been home for a long time but as soon as you get back you’re into the same life you were when you left, and everyone around you is doing the same thing they were doing when you left.
It feels in some way too easy to pick back up where you left off, so much that it’s as if you never left.
Another challenge that you will face is the fact that no one really cares that you have been away. In my case, people haven’t heard of the countries I’ve been to and definitely haven’t left or even thought to leave England for more than a couple weeks. It’s tiring and frustrating to break your awesome experiences down to how the weather was and if I had fun or not. They are usually around the only questions I get from most people. After that we are straight back to the monotonous questions of life like ‘what you having for dinner?’ Or ‘what’s your plans for the weekend?’.
I don’t know though, maybe I’m being selfish thinking that anyone would want to spend their precious time listening to my tales of climbing volcanos or exploring Mayan temples in the depths of thicc jungles…
