I think the first time I really started to think about how much I loved to learn wasn’t through school, wasn’t through a 4 year university degree, it was the year after that — a pre-registration year to qualify as a pharmacist.

It was after 20+ years of being in school to finally get out of it and realise, dang I like this thing called learning. This year was also when I learned how valuable books are for learning. (Yes it took me this long pls don’t judge) . I think it was a TED talk that said “You want to be more knowledgeable, READ MORE BOOKS.” – paraphrasing here but you get the gist.

Problem is how in this modern world do we find the time to sit down and actually read a book! I mean I know I didn’t, especially that year working 40+ hours a week and revising for the toughest exams of my life.

My secret method for getting the knowledge is Audiobooks! They are fantastic, I listen to them driving, walking, cooking, cleaning even working out in the gym. Anywhere, anytime, you can get knowledge on the go. It’s the most efficient way to learn for me personally and you don’t have to be sat there concentrating real hard like with a conventional book.

I know what you are probably thinking, cos loads of friends do “I don’t know if I can listen to something that long.” Think about this way, you listen to people speaking everyday I guess, unless you are very remote then, lucky you, but I bet when you do listen you remember and learn from what they have said. It’s a natural way of learning, that’s why teachers talk to you. Make the use of the time you have doing random activities and instead of listening to music give audiobooks a try. I guarantee in no time you will be powering through those classics you have always heard about but never got to reading or a book on a topic that peaked your interest but you never found the time to read, or that new best seller that Susan just won’t stop going on about, grrr SUSAN!

I use Audible as its convenient to use and it has a dope function, a sleep timer so when you sleepy you can listen as you doze off and not have to try go back hours to where you think you fell asleep.
