Something I have realised only last year while travelling the world, is that one of the hardest things to do while being away is living by someone else’s rules.
It’s a strange one, but if you stay with someone on a workaway or in an Airbnb you live by their rules. Even if you stay in hostels there are always rules that you must sign up to and follow.
It’s a strange phenomenon of travelling but one that becomes more apparent the longer you travel for. Whether it be curfews or noise restrictions, there’s always some limit to your personal freedom. Unless of course you escape into the country, into the wild, into the fray but I guess that’s the attraction of the great outdoors.
I have to admit I do rather enjoy now heading back and living under my own roof, my own rules. The problem is the rules that govern us at home tend to make us travellers want to get away after a while!
Anyone else feel like this or just me?
