28. Closed Doors

David couldn’t know what was behind the 4 closed doors that faced him now. No one that had seen them before had ever been seen again.

As he turned back to see if his entrance to the void could be used as his swift and hasty exit, his heart sank and his body grew deathly cold. The door he had come through was no longer visible. It had disappeared from view behind some sort of dark ominous opaque cloud. There was no way back now he thought to himself.

He had heard the rumours of the room with the 4 doors. All the children of the kingdom had. It was where parents would threaten to send you if you didn’t finish all your dinner or any other slight that they would need to cajole them into a pattern of better behaviour. Being an adult now he hadn’t heard that story for years and he was always sure that it was only a mythical thing.

But this was real. He was stood facing 4 closed doors, not knowing which to chance to go into. Would death or paradise reside behind the door he chose?

He could never know…
