Continuation again of the Shadow Story:
Chapter 3.
Jim had recently finished one his ‘romantic’ flings with a gal named Susan. She was a real character as they like to say around the strip. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do to get her hands on money or her drink and drugs. Her favourite being the white snow like powder cocaine of the Nevada high rollers. Jim obviously didn’t like this desire to get her nose in it by any means and they would argue frequently. She was a great lover though and thats why Jim stayed with her a while.
Her shadow at the time had been Jules and she was a nice character, very flirtatious in nature. We would spend the time in the dark days behind the curtains chatting away and making each other laugh until the lights came on or the curtains were drawn to let the day light in.
The major issue Jim found himself in was a love triangle with some big shot high roller fresh from the casinos of downtown. He was with Susan when this fella came to pay Susan a visit. They got into a scrap as Jim tried to defend Susan’s honour but it was no good. The guy barged in the room, one that Susan lived in, and demanded her right away. Jim was only in his underpants when all this was happening and after shouts and arguments the drunk high roller swung for Jim. He caught the shot as it was slow and loose and managed to get a quick uppercut to the guys chin to put him to sleep. Susan flew off the handle at Jim, she vowed she never wanted to see him again and kicked him out throwing his clothes out after him.
Unfortunately she chose the lifestyle instead of Jim. Me and him took a long walk that day in the hot sun. Luckily for Jim it was hot so he had sweated any moisture out that could have been used to make tears.
