Slightly embarrassing but a guilty pleasure of mine is Disney, the past year I have found a new appreciation of the big movie giant. Catching up on some of their newer works has been an emotional roller coaster. Non more so than Coco, the story of a Mexican kid who ends up in the world of the dead on Dia de Los Muertos and he finds himself begging for the chance to live out his dream of being a famous musician from his ancient ancestors.
It is a very interesting and exciting tale with some very catchy songs in the soundtrack, both in Spanish and in English. It has some really funny moments in the film but it is a lovely tale to emphasize the importance of family.
The scene that I found was a tear-jerker for me was towards the end ( I Shall try not to spoil anything) Miguel (the main kid character) is trying to get his great grandmother to remember her father but as she is very old she doesn’t remember much. In a last ditch effort Miguel sings the song that her father would sing to her as a child and after a slow emotional start his Grandmother finally joins in with the song along with Miguel remembering her Father. I don’t know what it is about the scene that really makes my tear ducts want to flood but there is something about the finality of forgetting someone that once was within your life, maybe its that fear that one day we may not remember those that we love or loved us?
Are there any scenes that you think of that made you well up recently? Let me know in the comments below! Hopefully I’m not the only person to have developed feelings whilst being on lockdown.
