Book Review: Start with why – Simon Sinek

I am in the midst of a management and leadership course at the moment and this book was recommended to me by my supervisor on the course. I had asked for any recommendations for my next book to listen to and this was one of her suggestions.

I found this book to be insightful and explains the concepts that the author is trying to put across very well. Starting with Why is all about trying to work out what a personal or organizational purpose is and always keep that in the forefront of your mind when making your decisions of your actions or planning. He uses well known examples of leaders to explain when and how other inspiring leaders have shown that starting with why is a great way to build and run a successful company.

To be honest I definitely found this book to be an inspiring one and feel like it makes me want to set up my own business already so I can instill a culture of being a great place to work and being a great company to work for. A huge point that resonated with me in the book was the fact that if you look after your employees first they will look after the customers and ultimately they will look after the shareholders.

Overall this is another book I would recommend to anyone that is interested in leadership, or even self improvement it is a powerful book that really will have you asking the why questions and finding out the deeper meanings behind your actions, which will give you a deeper understanding and will boost motivation.

Thanks for reading! Have you read or listened to this book before? What did you think? Do you have any other recommendations for me to try?
