There used to be a pub called the county back in the day when I was growing up where you could get in for a beverage even if you were a few months shy of the limit of 18. It’s the place I first played my DJ sets in public for friends birthdays and then a regular Friday night gig. The good old days of getting raided by the police and the people without ID being kicked out and the place shutting for the rest of the night.
It wasn’t a great place somewhere that needed doing up with a small bar at the back and classic British pub furniture with less than stable stools lining the edge of the room. But looking back know it was a fun place for our friends and people our age to hang out and drink and dance. I remember playing random remixes with Sound of da police and Fat man scoop being some real crowd pleasers.
Now when I’ve been back to my hometown it’s changed a lot that bad gone has the ya olde pub furniture and the bar upstairs it’s made to be a swanky (or want to be) sort of place to go. Maybe it’s the nostalgia that I feel but it wasn’t like it used to be it wasn’t pretty but it was fun.
